Ever wanted to do speed dating at MIT? And how much do you really know about safer sex? Find out more at a pair of new IAP offerings.
On Wednesday, Jan. 14 from 6:30-9 p.m., you can compete for prizes at a no-holds-barred Jeopardy-style game that probes the whats, whys and hows of safer sex. The event will be held in the Student Center’s Twenty Chimneys. Dinner will be served, and there will be team prizes and other giveaways. MCs will be Dr. Howard Heller, chief of medicine at MIT Medical, and Kate McCarthy, program manager for sexual health in the Center for Health Promotion & Wellness and author of MIT Medical’s Sexpert advice column. No preregistration is required.
Try speed dating at the annual IAP Charm School event on Friday, Jan. 30, where you can take part in a quick series of meetings with people of the same or opposite sex. You may meet a new colleague, friend, or maybe something more. Meeting times between men and women are noon, 12:30 p.m., 3 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. Times for women meeting women are 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. Times for men meeting men are 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
“There are many reasons why people come to see me, but a majority of them have to do with meeting people, dating, and making connections in general,” McCarthy said. “I thought speed dating would be a great way to bring people together and possibly help create some friendships.”
Email McCarthy at sexpert@mit.edu to sign up (and please indicate which group you’re signing up for and the time you’d prefer).
