For benefits-eligible employees of MIT Cambridge, Lincoln Laboratory, the Whitehead Institute, the Broad Institute, and Draper Laboratory. Retirees under age 65 may be eligible to continue with the same benefits they had while actively working. Speak with your benefits office to determine your coverage eligibility.
The Traditional MIT Health Plan offers convenient access to a broad range of MIT Medical services and specialties delivered by our staff of more than 100 physicians, psychologists, nurses, social workers, and other health care professionals at our on-campus location. Several services are also offered at Lincoln Laboratory in Lexington.
As a member of the Traditional MIT Health Plan, you’ll enjoy the highest quality preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic health care from people who are also members of the Institute community.
Before choosing a new health plan, we encourage you to compare the benefits of other plans with the convenience and coverage offered by our Traditional MIT Health Plan. If you receive treatment at MIT Medical, or by referral at one of our affiliate hospitals, you’ll be covered for the following services (copayments apply in some cases; see the 2009 or 2010 MIT Traditional Health Plan brochure under "Resources" below):
Worldwide emergency service: If you have a medical emergency anywhere in the world, your care is fully covered as long as you follow our authorization and follow-up procedures. To find a health care provider outside the United States, go to the Blue Cross Blue Shield Doctor and Hospital Finder.
