Family support

Many programs at MIT help support parents who are caring for children while attending classes, working, or meeting other responsibilities. Our educational and social programs also help international couples and families who are facing the additional challenge of adjusting to an unfamiliar culture.

How we can help

Community Wellness

  • Classes and groups for new and expecting parents on prenatal yoga, childbirth preparation and other topics.
  • Books and DVDs—The Community Wellness multimedia library has materials on topics including parenting, pregnancy and childbirth, and breast feeding.
  • One-on-one consultations with Jennifer Recklet Tassi to help connect spouses and families to each other, and to campus resources.
  • MIT spouses&partnersPrograms and activities to help wives, husbands, and partners of MIT students, staff, and faculty meet each other and build a social and professional network.
  • MIT FamilyNetAn online community for MIT families to share information on pregnancy and childbirth, day care, and parenting, including information for newcomers.
  • Language Conversation ExchangeA way to meet someone new from a different part of campus, speak a language you're learning with a native speaker, and share your culture and interests while learning about someone else's.
  • International Student's Guide to MIT MedicalA page to help international patients learn about obtaining health care at MIT Medical.
