Sexual Health

MIT Medical provides a full range of health services, information, supplies, diagnostic tests, and counseling to address concerns of men and women in the MIT community about sex and sexuality.

How we can help

Community Wellness

  • One-on-one consultations with sexual health behavior specialist Kate McCarthy in Community Wellness. Call 617-253-4420 or email kmcc@med.mit.edu.
  • Community Wellness multimedia library with books and DVDs about relationships and dating, safer sex, pregnancy, LGBT issues (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered), men’s health, and expressing sexuality.
  • Questions and answers about sexual topics in Community Wellness’s Sexpertise column, published weekly during the academic term.
  • Free contraception (male and female condoms, dental dams, and lubricant) at Community Wellness in E23-205.

Medical Services

  • Check-ups and other medical services, including the HPV vaccine and prescriptions for contraceptives, in Primary Care and Obstetrics & Gynecology.
  • Confidential testing for sexually transmitted infections including HIV. Call 617-253-4481. Testing is free for all registered students; results are available in approximately four days.
  • Prescription contraceptives at the MIT Pharmacy.
  • Hormonal therapy options for transgendered patients.
  • LGBQ health services.
  • Counseling and consultations with providers in Mental Health and Counseling. Call 617-253-2916.
