Whether or not you are currently engaged in a sexual relationship, your sexuality plays an important part in your overall health and well-being. We are all sexual beings, regardless of our age, relationship status, gender identity, or sexual orientation. The topic of sex and sexuality raises various health issues, both in terms of maintaining one’s sexual health through routine check-ups (once yearly) and self-examinations (as often as monthly), and in focusing on preventive measures such as safer sex, contraception, and testing for HIV and sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
MIT Medical provides a full range of services, information, supplies, diagnostic tests, and counseling to address concerns of men and women in the MIT community as they relate to sex and sexuality. For women, MIT Medical offers OB/GYN clinical and consultative services, including prenatal care and unintended pregnancy counseling and referrals. For both men and women, safer sex supplies, including condoms, lubricant, dental dams, female condoms, and latex gloves, are available at the Center for Health Promotion & Wellness on the second floor of MIT Medical during business hours.
